Chinese hackers target Tibetan websites in malware attack. A cybersecurity firm, Insikt Group, reported that a state-sponsored Chinese hacking group, TAG-112, compromised the Tibet Post and Gyudmed Tantric University websites to install malware on visitors’ computers. The attack, which began in late May, involved tricking users into downloading a malicious file disguised as a security certificate, enabling the hackers to conduct surveillance and information collection. The incident highlights ongoing cyber espionage efforts against the Tibetan community, which has historically been targeted by Chinese state-sponsored groups.
