NIST clears backlog of analyzed vulnerabilities with CISA’s help. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has announced that it has cleared its backlog of Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEVs) and is now processing new vulnerabilities as they are reported. This comes after criticism over a significant number of unanalyzed vulnerabilities in the National Vulnerability Database (NVD). Despite progress, NIST acknowledged that it will not meet its original goal of clearing all backlogs by year-end due to challenges in processing data from Authorized Data Providers. Cybersecurity experts have previously urged for more support to enhance the NVD’s critical role in cybersecurity.
