Free AI Video Editor Campaign Disguises Malware Installation

/ 1 min read

Free AI Video Editor Campaign Turns Out to Be Malware Trap. A deceptive social media campaign promoted a free AI video editor, but instead, it installed information-stealing malware known as Lumma Stealer on Windows and Atomic Stealer (AMOS) on Macs. The campaign, which appeared legitimate and was active on platforms like X, Facebook, and YouTube, utilized both compromised and newly created accounts to lure users. Once users clicked the download link, they unwittingly installed malware designed to steal sensitive information, including cryptocurrency wallet details and login credentials. Experts recommend monitoring accounts, changing passwords, and enabling multi-factor authentication to mitigate risks. Malwarebytes software can detect and block these threats, highlighting the importance of vigilance against such scams.
