Change Healthcare’s clearinghouse services restored after ransomware attack. Change Healthcare has confirmed that its clearinghouse services are back online, nearly nine months after a ransomware attack by ALPHV/Blackcat disrupted operations, affecting 94% of hospitals in the U.S. The organization, which processes 15 billion transactions annually, faced significant financial repercussions, with many providers reporting revenue losses exceeding $1 million per day. Although most functions have been restored, some services, including Clinical Exchange and MedRX, are still not fully operational. The attack’s aftermath has led to over $2 billion in remediation costs and a $22 million payment to the attackers. Change Healthcare’s CEO faced congressional scrutiny regarding the security failures that allowed the breach, which compromised data for approximately 100 million individuals.
