U.S. Authorities Seize PopeyeTools Cybercrime Site

/ 1 min read

U.S. authorities seize cybercrime site PopeyeTools and charge its administrators. The U.S. government has taken control of the cybercrime platform PopeyeTools, which facilitated the sale of stolen financial and personal data, and has charged three administrators—Abdul Ghaffar, Abdul Sami, and Javed Mirza—with various fraud-related offenses. The seizure included multiple domains and approximately $283,000 in cryptocurrency linked to the site. Launched in 2016, PopeyeTools generated an estimated $1.7 million in revenue by offering services such as stolen payment card data and educational materials for cybercrime. The administrators face up to 10 years in prison for their alleged roles, although no arrests have been made yet, and their current locations remain unknown.
