Hackers Target Web3 Professionals with Fake Video Apps

/ 1 min read

Cybersecurity researchers have identified a scam campaign, codenamed Meeten, that targets Web3 professionals by masquerading as legitimate business meetings. Threat actors create fake companies and use AI-generated content to enhance the legitimacy of their schemes, prompting victims to download a malicious application called Realst. This malware is designed to steal sensitive information, including cryptocurrency wallet data, Telegram credentials, and banking information. The Windows version of the malware is disguised as a legitimate installer, while the macOS variant employs deceptive prompts to gain user passwords. This tactic follows previous incidents involving counterfeit meeting software and highlights the increasing sophistication of cybercriminals leveraging AI to execute their scams.
