Apple Plans In-House Modem Production by 2025

/ 1 min read

📱✨ Apple to Begin In-House Production of iPhone Modem Chips by 2025. After years of delays, Apple is set to produce its own modem chips for iPhones, with the first models expected to debut in the spring of 2025 as part of the updated iPhone SE. The new chips, codenamed Sinope, will later be integrated into a mid-tier iPhone and lower-end iPads. Apple aims to fully replace Qualcomm modems by 2026 and 2027, despite initial reports suggesting that the first-generation Apple modems may not match Qualcomm’s performance. The company has invested heavily in this project, acquiring Intel’s 5G modem business in 2019 and facing numerous setbacks along the way. Future iterations are planned to enhance capabilities, including support for satellite networks.
