/ 1 min read

🧊💼 Arctic Wolf acquires Cylance from BlackBerry for $160 million. BlackBerry has sold its struggling cybersecurity unit, Cylance, to Arctic Wolf for a fraction of the $1.4 billion it originally paid in 2018. The deal, expected to close in BlackBerry’s fiscal Q4, involves an initial payment of approximately $80 million, with the remainder due a year later, alongside shares in Arctic Wolf. BlackBerry CEO John Giammatteo emphasized the benefits for shareholders and customers, while Arctic Wolf aims to enhance its endpoint security offerings with Cylance’s technology. Cylance, which has faced challenges in a competitive market, reported a significant loss of $51 million for the fiscal year ending February 2025, prompting BlackBerry to refocus its investments.
