🛡️📱 U.S. launches Cyber Trust Mark to enhance smart device security. The White House has introduced the U.S. Cyber Trust Mark, a new cybersecurity label aimed at helping consumers identify safe internet-connected devices. Set to appear on products like home security cameras and smart appliances later this year, the label indicates compliance with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) security criteria, including strong default passwords and software updates. Consumers can access additional security information via a QR code on the label. The initiative, supported by major tech companies, aims to educate consumers and encourage manufacturers to prioritize cybersecurity, similar to the EnergyStar program for energy efficiency. The program will officially begin in 2025, with companies able to submit products for certification.
