🔑 New n-XOR Model Enhances Meet-in-the-Middle Cryptanalysis for Symmetric Primitives. Researchers have introduced the n-XOR model to improve the cryptanalysis of symmetric primitives, particularly those using binary matrices as linear layers. This model, along with a check model to address inaccuracies, has enabled a successful meet-in-the-middle key recovery attack on 11-round Midori64 and a 12-round attack when whitening keys are excluded. These advancements demonstrate significant reductions in memory and data complexity compared to previous methods. Additionally, the n-XOR model has been applied to hashing modes, resulting in improved preimage attacks on weakened camellia−MMO and Aria−DM, enhancing their security analysis.
