🔍 New Techniques Proposed to Enhance Ransomware Detection Amid Growing Threats. Researchers have introduced Differential Area Analysis (DAA) as a method to differentiate between various file types, including ransomware-encrypted files, which have surged in prevalence. The study outlines three novel attacks aimed at manipulating file headers to evade DAA detection, alongside three countermeasures—2-Fragments, 3-Fragments, and 4-Fragments—designed to counter these attacks. Experimental results indicate that these countermeasures effectively detect ransomware-encrypted files, demonstrating their viability as alternatives to DAA. The research highlights the ongoing battle between ransomware tactics and detection methods, emphasizing the need for robust solutions in cybersecurity.
