A recent cybersecurity report reveals that hackers have created nearly 1,000 fraudulent web pages mimicking Reddit and WeTransfer to spread the Lumma Stealer malware. These fake sites feature deceptive discussions that lure victims into downloading malicious software disguised as legitimate tools. Clicking on links leads users to counterfeit WeTransfer pages, where the malware is hosted. The campaign, identified by researcher crep1x, includes 529 Reddit impersonations and 407 WeTransfer fakes, utilizing random characters in their URLs to appear credible. Lumma Stealer is known for its advanced data theft capabilities, targeting sensitive information like passwords and session tokens, and has been linked to significant breaches in various organizations.
