🔐 Google introduces new “Identity Check” feature to enhance Android security. The latest Android update includes an “Identity Check” feature that requires biometric authentication to access sensitive settings when users are outside trusted locations. This addition is part of Android’s theft protection suite, which also features the Theft Detection Lock, now expanding to more devices. Key actions protected by Identity Check include factory resets, changing screen locks, and managing Google accounts. Initially available on Google Pixel devices running Android 15 and Samsung Galaxy phones with One UI 7, users can enable the feature through their device settings. Google is also rolling out Theft Detection Lock to all Android 10 and later devices, enhancing security against mobile theft. Further developments in mobile theft prevention are expected in collaboration with GSMA.
