/ 1 min read

🎓💻 PowerSchool data breach affects over 62 million students and teachers. A hacker has claimed responsibility for breaching PowerSchool, a major education technology provider, and stealing personal data from approximately 62.4 million students and 9.5 million teachers across 6,505 school districts. The breach occurred after the hacker accessed the company’s customer support portal using stolen credentials, leading to the download of sensitive information, including Social Security Numbers and medical data for some individuals. PowerSchool has offered two years of complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring services to those affected and is working on notifying impacted stakeholders. However, the company has not disclosed specific numbers regarding the data exposed, causing frustration among parents and educators. An incident report is expected but has yet to be released.
