Backdoor Malware Discovered in Juniper Routers Worldwide
/ 1 min read
🔌 Backdoor malware targets Juniper routers in critical sectors worldwide. A stealthy backdoor, identified as J-Magic, has been discovered in Juniper routers across key industries such as semiconductor, energy, and manufacturing since mid-2023. This malware, a variant of cd00r, allows remote control of infected devices by monitoring network traffic for specific packets. Once activated, it establishes a connection with the sender, enabling command-line access to the router. Researchers from Black Lotus Labs noted that the backdoor primarily affects VPN gateway routers and could pose significant risks to organizations globally, including those in the US, UK, and Brazil. The attack highlights the vulnerabilities of network infrastructure and the need for enhanced security measures.
