Analysis of Cybercriminal Activity on Telegram Channels

/ 1 min read

🔍 Analysis Reveals the Scale of Cybercriminal Activity on Telegram. A comprehensive study analyzed 339 cybercriminal activity channels (CACs) on Telegram, which collectively have over 23.8 million followers. These channels disseminate a variety of malicious content, including compromised credentials, pirated software, and hacking resources. Utilizing the DarkGram framework, researchers identified 53,605 posts, finding that 28.1% of shared links contained phishing attacks and 38% of executable files were infected with malware. The study highlights the channels’ resilience, as they can quickly relocate to evade detection, and emphasizes the need for coordinated efforts to combat these threats. The researchers have made their dataset and DarkGram framework open-source to assist in these efforts.
