🔌✨ Streamlined Plug-and-Charge Authorization for Electric Vehicles Proposed. A new approach to the Plug-and-Charge (PnC) process for electric vehicles (EVs) aims to simplify the charging authorization by utilizing OAuth2 and OpenID Connect (OIDC). The current system, based on ISO 15118, is criticized for its complexity and lack of user-friendliness due to a cumbersome Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). The proposed method enhances the credential installation process, introduces flexible authorization parameters, and facilitates payment options. A proof-of-concept implementation and performance evaluations demonstrate the effectiveness of this streamlined approach, which also addresses cross-device authorization issues, making it applicable beyond EV charging contexts.
