Study on Online Authentication Practices Among Indian Users

/ 1 min read

🔑 Study reveals online authentication habits of Indian users. A survey of 90 participants in India highlights the prevalent use of two-factor authentication (2FA) and password managers, although many users are unaware of their formal names. While most participants employed some form of 2FA, browser-integrated and device-default password managers were primarily used for less sensitive accounts like e-commerce and social media, with low adoption of dedicated third-party applications. Convenience drives the use of password managers, yet trust issues lead some to avoid them. Despite recognizing the importance of secure practices, many still reuse passwords and prefer shorter, predictable patterns, indicating a need for tailored strategies to enhance user awareness and improve password security in the Indian context.
