Apple Updates XProtect Against New DPRK Malware Variants

/ 1 min read

🦊💻 Apple updates XProtect to combat new variants of DPRK malware. Last week, Apple released an update to its XProtect malware tool, targeting several variants of the macOS Ferret family linked to North Korean cyber activities. This malware, part of the “Contagious Interview” campaign, deceives victims into installing malicious software under the guise of job interviews. New samples, dubbed “FlexibleFerret,” were discovered that evade detection by XProtect, despite being functionally similar to known threats. The campaign has expanded its reach, now also targeting developers through fake GitHub issues. SentinelOne reports that its customers are protected against these known malware components, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by these sophisticated cyber tactics.
