New Framework Proposed for Cybercrime Investigation in Smart Cities

/ 1 min read

🏙️🕵️‍♂️ New Ontology Proposed to Enhance Cybercrime Investigation in Smart Cities. The rise of cybercrime, particularly in the context of Smart City Infrastructure (SCI), has prompted the development of a new framework called the Smart City Ontological Paradigm Expression (SCOPE). This initiative aims to address the limitations of existing forensic tools and ontologies, such as the Unified Cyber Ontology (UCO) and Cyber-investigation Analysis Standard Expression (CASE), by incorporating SCI-specific threat models and digital forensic evidence. SCOPE is designed to improve information sharing and tool interoperability, enabling digital forensic investigators and law enforcement agencies to better identify and respond to cyber threats. The framework also includes incident scenario modeling based on real-world attacks attributed to Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) groups, and it is made available for community use to enhance collaborative efforts in cybercrime investigation.
