New Fuzzing Framework SPIDER Detects Performance Issues in ONOS

/ 1 min read

🐞 New Fuzzing Framework SPIDER Identifies Performance Issues in ONOS SDN Controller. Researchers have developed SPIDER, a fuzzing framework designed to uncover stateful performance issues (SPIs) in the ONOS software-defined network (SDN) controller. SPIs can severely impact network performance and availability, making their detection crucial. SPIDER utilizes the event-driven architecture of ONOS to target individual network services and employs static analysis to identify interdependencies among services. The framework successfully identified 10 new performance issues across 157 network services, demonstrating its effectiveness compared to previous methods. The study includes evaluations of SPIDER’s performance and case studies on the identified SPIs, highlighting its potential to enhance the reliability of SDN controllers.
